Building a Personal Brand: Insights from Our Meet & Connect Evening in Munich

Last week, the Southeast Asian Entrepreneurs in Europe Association organised an after-work Meet & Connect evening in Munich, thanks to the generous sponsorship of our partner, Singapore Global Network. The event was a wonderful opportunity for working professionals and entrepreneurs based in Munich and the surrounding regions to come together, network, and share ideas.

We were delighted to welcome Eleanor Mayrhofer, who shared her extensive knowledge of personal branding. With two decades of experience at global digital agencies, Eleanor has worked on projects for renowned brands such as Siemens, BMW, Bosch, Vodafone, and General Motors. Her insights were not only valuable but also incredibly inspiring.

Eleanor explained that building a personal brand is all about understanding who you are and expressing it through four main dimensions: communication, behaviour, outcomes, and aesthetics. She emphasized the importance of recognizing your personal identity and effectively communicating it to influence how others perceive you. This involves asking yourself key questions like: "Who am I?" and "How do I want to be seen?"

One of the standout points from Eleanor’s session was the idea that building a personal brand is not just about creating a polished image but about being authentic and true to yourself. She encouraged us to think about our unique strengths and how we can use them to stand out in both personal and professional settings.

The audience was highly engaged, asking numerous questions about brand management and the differences between personal and professional branding. These questions led to a deeper discussion, highlighting the importance of consistency across all aspects of life.

We had a fantastic turnout, with professionals and entrepreneurs from various industries attending. Participants came not only from Munich and nearby cities but also from as far away as Australia. The energy in the room was palpable as everyone mingled, shared their stories, and made new connections over delicious food at Amari Bar.

A huge thank you to Eleanor for her insightful and thought-provoking presentation on personal branding, which certainly gave us all a lot to think about. To everyone who attended, thank you for making the evening such a success. We hope you enjoyed the event as much as we did and left with valuable new connections and insights.
